Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Medical & Surgical Masks?
It is easier for you to breathe through a medical mask than surgical mask due to a lower differential pressure (Pa/cm²). In general, medical mask can filter over 95% of bacteria. The mask do not filter virus but prevent droplets that carry virus and bacteria from the wearer. It's most effective when others are also wearing masks.
This is perfect for people who want moderate level of protection.
However, compare to surgical masks, medical masks have lower splash resistance to blood and body fluids that may contain virus and bacteria.
Our surgical mask is Type IIR grade, which has the highest protection grade among medical masks (Type I) and other surgical masks (Type II). It's harder for you to breathe than medical mask, but filters over 98% of bacteria and particles with higher protection level.
The surgical mask provides better protection from splash/fluid than medical mask i.e. protect you from blood or saliva that carries virus or bacteria.
This mask is generally for office employees and customer service where there is social distancing and daily use of masks. A face shield is the best complementary product to provide extra layer of protection.
If you are ill because of bacteria or virus, the mask will protect your loved ones from getting infected.
Note that masks do not reduce your oxygen consumption.
Medical and Surgical masks are not designed for air-tight environment with high exposure of virus and bacteria as there is air leakage on the side.
If you are at high risk of contracting contagious diseases, shop FFP2/FFP3/N95/N99 respirators.
Are surgical and medical masks reusable & washable?
Some of our products is machine washable and are still medically certified as specified in the product description. There aren't many masks in the market that is both medically certified (EN 14683) and washable. You can fully trust us for our quality.
You can reuse both disposable and washable masks (even before it is washed). It is recommended to change every 2-6 hours.
However, if your mask gets dirty, wet or damaged, or if you touch the inside of it, then you should change to a new one.
When you take it off to eat or drink, you should dispose of the old mask, wash or sanitise your hands, and replace it with a new one once you have finished eating.
