5 ways to keep yourself healthy in the new normal

5 ways to keep yourself healthy in the new normal

Societies have experienced major changes this year, mostly due to the worldwide pandemic. In the “new normal” we will have to change some habits to prevent this situation from happening again. In this article we will give you some tips to keep yourself healthy:

1. Wash those paws!
It’s been proven that washing your hands often keeps the virus and bacteria away! This simple act reduces the number of people who get sick by 23-40%, it also reduces diarrheal disease in people with weakened immune systems by 58% and reduces respiratory diseases like colds in the general population by 16-21%.

During a normal day, we tend to touch our faces, mouth, eyes or nose without even noticing it and by doing that, you’re letting all kinds of microorganisms and bacteria enter into your body. To prove that what we are saying it’s true we encourage you to make an experiment (perfect for the kids)! You’ll only need a recipient with water, black pepper and soap.

Here’s how to do it:

1.Put water in the recipient
2.Add some black pepper to it
3.Put a drop of soap in one of your fingers and touch the water with the black pepper
4.Watch how every pepper dot goes magically away from your finger!

FACT. The simple act of washing your hands reduces respiratory diseases like colds by 16-21%.

2. 6 Feet away keeps the doctor at bay:

We can’t know if people around us have any kind of sickness, that’s why all the experts recommend keeping social distance when we’re out. Most virus tend to spread to people that are close to the infected person (till 6 feet apart).

The contagion occurs when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talk and the micro drops from its mouth end up on another person, who accidentally inhales those micro drops. That’s why it’s important to be conscious about it and keep the social distance whenever we go out.

3. Take cover!

It’s a fact that there’s a lack of information when it comes to the use and efficiency of face masks...but don’t worry! Keep reading because we’re about to tell you all you need to know about them! The first thing you should know is that there’s many kinds of face masks and not all of them can be used for the same things or have the same level of protection when it comes to viral infections.

To put out an example: the popular cloth face masks are useless unless they have a filter on the inside, that’s why we should always look for face masks with certification to make sure that we’re protected. Here we’re going to explain the levels of protection and the right utilization for every kind of face masks:

The level 1 face masks are basic masks that protect you from dust, of non-toxic and non-fibrogenic residues of dust or aerosols. It prevents you from inhaling these and annoying smells.

The level 2 level face masks should be medically certified. These masks have higher protection than level 1 and are normally used in healthcare industry. These masks offer >95% protection filtration efficiency against bacteria and airborne respiratory diseases.

The level 3 certified face masks, also called FFP3/FFP2/N95 act against different poisonous and toxic types of dust, smoke and aerosols. It is effective in a prevention level against bacteria, viruses and fungal spores. These masks are able to filter >98% filtration efficiency. They have the maximum barrier protection compare to level 1 and 2.

4. Don’t say it - spray it!

We spend a lot of time outside, traveling or in situations where we don’t have access to water and soap to wash our hands and we’re exposed to all kind of infectious agents laying all around, that’s why we should always have with us a sanitizer gel to prevent ourselves from getting any infection or sickness.
